Henry Moore Insitute

The Henry Moore Institute is a hub for sculpture. Based in the heart of Leeds where Henry Moore began his training as a sculptor, we host exhibitions, talks, events and workshops year-round, welcoming everyone to experience, study and enjoy sculpture. Alongside our galleries, we’re also an international research centre, with a world-class sculpture library and archive. We’re open seven days a week and are free to all.

“We really enjoyed it, we did some creative stuff which was lovely. It was just such a different experience for everyone.” (Community group volunteer)

We are part of Arts Together because we believe sculpture, like all art, is for everyone. We’re keen to welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to our galleries to explore, discuss and make sculpture, and are excited to reach new groups through the Arts Together network.

People you may meet

  • Alison Smith, Engagement Curator

I run the engagement programme at the Henry Moore Institute. I host groups from schools and communities, and run creative workshops and projects which explore sculpture, and link to our exhibitions. A fun fact: Alongside my part time role at the Institute, I’m also an artist. I make light installations using recycled materials, and you may have seen my work in the city centre over Christmas, or at Light Night Leeds!
