Leeds International Concert Season

Leeds International Concert Season is part of Leeds City Council’s Arts Events and Venues team. Each year at the Concert Season we programme lots of different series of concerts; Leeds International Orchestral Season with orchestras from all over the world, Leeds Best of Brass with championship- winning brass bands, a spring residency with a prizewinner of Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, a series of mind-boggling concerts with Manchester Collective, and chamber music in all different shapes and sizes.

We also programme three concert series that are completely free to attend which between them cover the whole year, so you are never without music. Leeds Lunchtime Organ Music is every Monday at Leeds Cathedral; free organ recitals with the odd choir or brass band thrown in. Leeds Lunchtime Chamber Music is every Wednesday at Leeds College of Music; free chamber music concerts with something completely different programmed every week. Then in summer, we have Summer Bands in Leeds Parks; local brass, jazz and klezmer bands playing every Sunday across the parks of Leeds. A nice chance to hear music makers from the area, al fresco.

‘I don’t know why everyone doesn’t come – I’ve had the chance to hear all sorts of music that I never would have, we’ve had everything here! Brass, classical, folk, and today some jazz. Every week is something different, and the chance to chat to people. And it’s completely free. See you next week!’ –from a regular audience member at our relaxed performance with Back Chat Brass.

Hello! I work in the little programming team at Leeds International Concert Season. Together we put on as many concerts as we can all year round to make sure there’s always music happening in Leeds that everyone can come to. I love chatting to our friendly regulars each week, it’s as much a joy to see them as it is to hear the music
