Slung Low

We are a theatre company who specialise in making outdoor adventures in unusual spaces. In December 2018 we also became managers of The Holbeck, the oldest working man’s club in the country. We run this venue as a social club, an arts space a community centre and a theatre aiming to be of as much use to those who need it as possible and to provide a space for artists to perform and rehearse work that wouldn’t otherwise be seen in the city.

We are also a cultural community college, running termly courses for adults delivered by those who are skilled and passionate about their subjects from star gazing to blacksmithing, cooking to plastering. All of our events, use of the space and equipment we share are Pay What You Decide.

“Slung Low choir is great. There’s a really welcoming atmosphere and no pressure to be perfect – just to enjoy. Singing is so good for my sense of well-being and so the choir at the Holbeck has been invaluable for me over the last year”.

We are part of Arts Together because we want to connect with those who are leading, making and participating in relevant, inspiring and important work in West Yorkshire.

Hi. I'm the technical manager and the person who will go out of my way to help people who visit The Holbeck. My background lies in sound design and engineering and, as with all of us, I now do a bit of everything. Fun fact: I once played in a band with the Saxophonist from Super Tramp.

  • Joanna Resnick

Hi. I'm a Producer at Slung Low and am the go-to for anything - from fundraising to budgets to managing projects. Fun fact: I did my degree in Biochemistry before forging a career in the arts.
