Leeds Libraries

We provide a free public library service at libraries and community hubs across Leeds and aim to engage with people of all ages to help them enjoy reading, creating and learning. We run a wide range of events, from regular story and rhyme times for children to workshops, talks and performances for everyone. You can learn digital skills, receive guidance on how to start a business or find out about your family history. We also host readers, writers and other social groups and we’re always happy to welcome new members. We’ve got something for everybody, come in and find out!

It’s been brilliant coming here. Staff are fantastic. They make you feel you can do whatever you want and you will be able to do things that you didn’t think you ever could.” (Studio 12 participant)

We are part of Arts Together because as a first step into the arts and culture for many people, we are passionate about providing fun, friendly and low cost opportunities.

People you may meet

  • Emma Hayton: Librarian (Arts)

I’ve been a librarian for Leeds Libraries since 2000. I lead a team of fantastic, helpful staff in the Art Library and Music and Performing Arts Library, so do come and say hello. Normally I can be spotted on the arts floor, researching, planning, delivering an arts class, or cleaning up after one! I love working in the beautiful Central Library, especially the Drawing Room. I programme events, promote amazing resources, library services and special collections to the people of Leeds and beyond. It’s a privilege to work with other arts organisations and established or emerging artists, facilitating learning, sharing ideas, managing projects and books.

  • Lee Noon – Librarian (Music and Performing Arts)

I have worked in the Music and Art Libraries at Central Library for over 20 years. Managing the resources and working with communities to foster a love of the Arts. I swap from leading the delivery of a national music and drama lending service to designing, developing and delivering arts and craft workshops such as printing and drawing.  I am committed to supporting artists, musicians and enthusiasts of the Arts across Leeds and the UK.
