The Middle Floor

The Middle Floor is an inclusive, not for profit dance and event space situated in the heart of Leeds, offering a range of classes and workshops for professionals and beginners alike.

We are run by artists for artists and offer regular professional contemporary dance classes alongside open level, community dance classes. We also offer residency space for the development of new theatre and dance work, exhibition space and private hire for parties and events.

We also have a photography studio with permanent residents including Elly Welford Photography.

Situated in the heart of Leeds, The Middle Floor is a community driven organisation led by artists for artists. We engage with a variety of audiences, from beginners to professionals alike, and always looking to build relationships with Leeds creative and cultural community. We have several resident artists who use our space including dance organisation Excessive Human Collective and photographer Elly Welford.

“The Middle Floor is a really special place in Leeds. As well as having regular classes, they are always really interesting and unique events and workshops happening. It’s a really welcoming space.”

We are part of Arts Together because we believe in creating a strong network of artists in Leeds.

  • Josephine Sillars

Josephine Sillars (She/Her/Hers) is a Leeds based artist, and our Marketing and Fundraising Manager at The Middle Floor. She is our person behind all things marketing (and spends lots of time filling in forms). Alongside her work with us, she is also a musician and performer with Rubber Rose, Declan Welsh and the Decadent West and her solo-project. She is also activist with collective Popgirlz working across the Northern English and Scottish music scenes.

  • Jorden Brooks
