The Middle Floor
The Middle Floor is an inclusive, not for profit dance and event space situated in the heart of Leeds, offering a range of classes and workshops for professionals and beginners alike.
We are run by artists for artists and offer regular professional contemporary dance classes alongside open level, community dance classes. We also offer residency space for the development of new theatre and dance work, exhibition space and private hire for parties and events.
We also have a photography studio with permanent residents including Elly Welford Photography.
Situated in the heart of Leeds, The Middle Floor is a community driven organisation led by artists for artists. We engage with a variety of audiences, from beginners to professionals alike, and always looking to build relationships with Leeds creative and cultural community. We have several resident artists who use our space including dance organisation Excessive Human Collective and photographer Elly Welford.

Imogen Reeve
Imogen (She/Her/Hers) is our Artistic and Executive Director. Sounds fancy right?! Basically, Imogen oversees everything that goes on at Middle Floor. Her door is always open to hear your class, workshop or project ideas and if you have any suggestions on how we can improve the space or do things differently she is all ears. Alongside her work with us she also choreographs under Excessive Human Collective and co-directs Glitterbomb Dancers.

Josephine Sillars
Josephine Sillars (She/Her/Hers) is a Leeds based artist, and our Marketing and Fundraising Manager at The Middle Floor. She is our person behind all things marketing (and spends lots of time filling in forms). Alongside her work with us, she is also a musician and performer with Rubber Rose, Declan Welsh and the Decadent West and her solo-project. She is also activist with collective Popgirlz working across the Northern English and Scottish music scenes.

Jorden Brooks
Jorden Brooks (she/her/hers) is a freelance artist based in Leeds. Jorden is part of the content creation and administrative duties here at The Middle Floor. She is a graduate of The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, BA 2022 and postgraduate company, VERVE 2023. As well as working here, Jorden has worked with National Youth Theatre as an Assistant Movement Director, Perfectly Serviceable as an intern and Transform Festival as a young curator. She is also an aspiring choreographer, presenting her work at Resolution 2024 and curates her own live dance and music events within Leeds; ‘SALT & SHAKE’ and ‘HOPS AND BOPS’.
