Yorkshire Dance

Leeds-based Yorkshire Dance champions the development of dance in Yorkshire. It does so by raising standards, increasing knowledge and understanding and fostering creativity and innovation.

It creates opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to see, make and take part in high quality dance that is rooted in their creativity, in their lives and in their communities, with the power to transform and inspire.

It creates opportunities for emerging and established artists and practitioners to research, create and present new contemporary work on the small scale, and in communities, developing their skills, expertise and networks.

It creates opportunities for people to experience dance by working with partners, local authorities and the arts, in health and in sport, building a region-wide infrastructure for dance development.

Building
We have lifts that access all floors of our building.
We have at least one accessible toilet on every floor of our building.
We have an accessible shower with a folding seat in our changing rooms.
We encourage all of our visitors to use the toilets and changing rooms which best align with their gender identity or expression.
We have gender neutral toilets available in our building.
We have baby changing facilities in our changing rooms.
We can often provide a private room to feed your baby, if you’d prefer this.
We can provide a quiet space or room for visitors that request this.

Events and Performances
We will provide one carer ticket for free, if accompanying someone to a performance.
We always have First Aid assistance on site, in case of emergency.
We welcome assistance dogs and can provide water if they are thirsty.

Communication
We use the accessible font “FS Me” on our promotional material, website and building signage.
Large print and easy read versions of all promotional material and applications are available.
Our building signage includes symbols to help with navigation.
We are working towards having an induction loop available for performances and meetings.
We have members of staff who can communicate using British Sign Language.
We provide easy read directions to Yorkshire Dance from Leeds Bus Station and Leeds Train Station.
