CLAY is a centre for boundary testing live artworks that provoke, experiment, and promote social change.

We strive to create a community driven space where audiences, participants and artists are able to express themselves and see themselves reflected in the work we do. We aim to improve access to interdisciplinary, contemporary live artworks and experiences, and believe Live Art practise has the potential to instigate social change.

We bat for artists whose practice is hard to define, supporting risk and experimentation, by creating the first Art Centre for live art practice. We are a touring venue and a space to make art and performance and as well as home for our studio community.

If you want to support our bold vision visit our website and check out our membership page.

We are a not for profit company located in Leeds City Centre. Looking for a contemporary warehouse-style space for an event? You can also hire our space.

Accessibility: It has a single step access to a single door that opens into the venue. The door is 32 inches wide. We have a metal ramp for the step; front of house staff will put this out upon request.

We have 2 gender-neutral toilets that are down a flight of stairs that is 12 steps. Unfortunately, there is no lift in our building. The rest of the building is on one floor. Wherever possible, with our limited budgets, we hire in an accessible toilet (portaloo).

We always have a first aider on site at all our events. Unless stated otherwise all performances here are relaxed so if you need to get up and move, stand, leave the space, go to the toilets or get some fresh air, you are welcome to do so
