CLAY: Centre for Live Art Yorkshire

1-2 Regent Street

CLAY: Centre for Live Art Yorkshire is the only venue in the UK dedicated to Live Art and interdisciplinary practice. The new venue is on the site formerly known as Live Art Bistro on Regent Street, led by Jessica Sweet and Matt Allen.

CLAY is a centre for artworks that test boundaries and artists whose practice is hard to define
CLAY is a hub in Leeds focused on affordable working space for artists
CLAY supports risk, experimentation and interdisciplinary artwork

The venue is situated next door to the brand new Leeds Playhouse and Leeds City College arts campus, widening the thriving cultural offer around the SOYO area. Programming risky and provocative work, CLAY supports artists working on the experimental edges, cementing Leeds as a cultural capital.

It has a single step access to a single door that opens into the venue. The door is 32 inches wide. We have a metal ramp for the step; front of house staff will put this out upon request.

We have 2 gender-neutral toilets that are down a flight of stairs that is 12 steps. Unfortunately, there is no lift in our building. The rest of the building is on one floor. Wherever possible, with our limited budgets, we hire in an accessible toilet (portaloo).

We have Access tickets available which include a Carer/Companion seat – see our ticket prices on our events pages.

We do not currently have facilities for hearing loops, BSL or captioned performances, but all videos and films that we publicise as CLAY are captioned.

We always have a first aider on site at all our events.
Unless stated otherwise all performances here are relaxed so if you need to get up and move, stand, leave the space, go to the toilets or get some fresh air, you are welcome to do so.
