The Leeds International Piano Competition (LIPC) is one of the world’s most prestigious music competitions, launching and nurturing the careers of exceptional pianists since 1963. The Competition is triennial, and the next Edition of ‘The Leeds’ will take place in September 2027, in the Great Hall at the University of Leeds and in Leeds Town Hall.
LIPC’s impact is felt well beyond the concert hall – we collaborate with people of all ages and backgrounds through our Creative Learning and Engagement Programme, which includes our award-winning Piano Trail. This city-wide initiative transforms public places into creative spaces, inviting musicians and non-musicians alike to participate. The Piano Trail breaks down barriers, with a staggering 5.9 million engagements in 2024.
Our Innovation Lab is a hub for groundbreaking projects that integrate live performance and digital engagement. In response to the ongoing crisis in cultural education, LIPC is pioneering digital music education initiatives which widen access to music and music education for children and young people from all backgrounds.
