Geraldine Connor Foundation

The Geraldine Connor Foundation (GCF) is a registered charity, established in 2012 to continue the work and vision of Geraldine Connor by bringing people together through arts and culture. We provide global perspectives across many artforms including music, theatre, dance, spoken word poetry and visual arts. We work with young people through projects that include workshops, performances and mentoring programmes.
Over the past three years, we have delivered Global Mash Up, a week of creative activity for young people aged 8-16, during October and February half term holidays. Global Mash Up allows young people to explore global art forms with professional artists completely for free. We also provide weekly arts workshops in schools as part of the Extended Schools programme. We engage with adults in the community through our partner choir, Voices Community Choir, who meet weekly and provide the opportunity to sing in an un-auditioned, relaxed choir to people in Leeds.
Taking the initial firsts steps in was hard as I didn’t know anybody to start with. I soon became more confident and relaxed as everybody was really nice and friendly. The project has helped me with my self-esteem and gave me the confidence to perform more in front of others – Global Mash Up 2019 participant

We are part of Arts Together because we want to work with other organisations to help break down barriers that stop people accessing the arts. We hope that by joining this community we will be able to come together to have a stronger impact than as individuals.
