Fashion, poetry, music, and over 100 artists – from Kirkstall Abbey to neighbours’ front rooms, the Art Trail is back this July, free for all.

What’s on

Art across Kirkstall

The trail is a unique chance to discover and buy original work in wonderfully unconventional settings – from Kirkstall Abbey and Hollybush Conservation Centre to St Stephen’s Church. Some of the most popular spots are the homes of local residents, who throw open their doors as mini art galleries, giving the whole event its warm, community feel.

Fashion show and live music

The ever-popular Sustainable Fashion Show returns with a revamped set, original dance choreography, a DJ, and talented designers showcasing their work. New for 2026, live music from buskers will entertain visitors along the trail.

Poetry competition

2026 marks the first year of the Kirkstall Art Trail Poetry Competition, which attracted over eighty entries. A full announcement of the winners will be made in early July, with the final ten will be available to buy as a poetry chapbook.

Spoken Word evening

The Cardigan Arms hosts a Spoken Word Evening from 7pm on Saturday 18 July, open to all. Competition entrants and Poetry Trail participants are invited to perform, with open mic slots available for anyone who wants to take to the stage. To enquire, contact Jim at [email protected].

Poetry and Mural Trails

Follow the Poetry Trail through the event, or explore the Mural Trail – transforming Kirkstall into a permanent open-air gallery.

Workshops and activities

Mini workshops, artist demonstrations, and hands-on activities run throughout the weekend, with something to engage visitors of all ages.

And much more!

Look out for winning photographs from the Capture Kirkstall competition, work created by students from Lawnswood and Abbey Grange secondary schools, and the Kirkstall Bunting Festival with flags made by local primary school pupils and members of the community – all adding to the colour and creativity on display across the trail.

Accessibility at Kirkstall Art Trail

Because visitors have diverse access needs and as part of Kirkstall Art Trail’s accessibility commitment, we aim to provide clear access information for our visitors. Please see our website for more details.
