The Unravelling Fantasia of Miss H.
About the event
A new contemporary opera inspired by the true story of Mary Frances Heaton b.1801 based on her embroidered words of defiant protest and the surviving medical records from her confinement in Wakefield Asylum.
Composed, performed and produced by Red Gray and Sarah Nicolls, this audioplay is an adaptation of the stage play directed by Zoe Bouras for Stitched-up-theatre.
This project is supported by Arts Council England, Leeds Inspired and PRS Foundation.
Special thanks to Wakefield’s Mental Health Museum and West Yorkshire Archives for their resources and support.
