About the event
Join us for a relaxed and dementia-friendly one hour concert presented in an informal and friendly setting.
A relaxed performance is where the ambience of the auditorium and venue ‘rules’ are relaxed: rules such as having to keep quiet or sit still. These performances are ideal for people with learning disabilities or autism, people living with dementia, or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.
For this well-being weekend performance, BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winner Maddie Morris will be joined by guitarist and singer George Sansome to showcase music collected in Yorkshire, exploring identity and LGBTQIA inclusivity. Expect contemporary folk music, inspired by global folk traditions.
Maddie Morris is an artist who strives to make a difference in the world. Bold, insightful and refreshingly unique, she takes traditional song in new directions to shine a light on contemporary issues, offering new perspectives about the world we live in today.
With a passion for storytelling and a gift for tapping into the human experience, George Sansome is a singer who gets right to the roots of what traditional music is all about. Refreshingly open, expressive and engaging, his performances place a spotlight on human stories, with masterful guitar arrangements that showcase impressive skills whilst allowing the songs themselves the space to shine.
