About the event

Ascendance have re-designed their dance classes for the Leeds & Bradford community with Parkinson’s Disease to keep smiles on peoples’ faces during social distancing.

It keeps individuals moving in a fun, welcoming environment whilst safe relating. Options are given to modify for various levels of mobility. Professionally trained instructors guide movement which incorporate a range of styles from around the world. The exercises aim to enhance and maintain mobility, flexibility, balance, posture, coordination and strength with creative input from participants if desired.

Class is £4 per person or a 3-month subscription (1st July – 30th September) £40 Pay for 10 and get 3 weeks of sessions free.

Accessibility Info

Participants can access Dancing with Parkinson’s classes and join Ascendance from the comfort of their own home on their own equipment, devices and internet connection. Support is also available for those who do not have their own devices or IT know how.

Some guidance when joining an on-line session or using our on-line resources.

-Ensure you dance space is clear from obstruction, are there any hazards nearby? including any bags, wires, furniture and pets.

-When using a chair, ensure that the chair is stable.

-Have a drink to hand and take regular drink breaks during the session if required.

-Wear suitable loose clothing that you can move freely in.

-Have a telephone nearby you with your emergency contact stored.

-Provide a current emergency contact for your dance leader to phone in an emergency.

-Ensure that your tutor is are of any medical issues that may affect your ability to take part.

-Only do what you feel comfortable with, rest if you need to.

-No recording of on-line classes or sharing without obtaining permission first with all members.
