About the event

Love To Play festival is running from 10-17 April, hosted within an imagination near you. It is an invitation to have fun, dream big, create, converse, improvise and express yourself! We felt it was a great match for Bruntwood SciTech’s WHOLESOME: Expression events strand, and hope you will enjoy checking out the other festival activities too.

Join us for some arty, animal themed fun in your lunch break. This is a free, virtual event via zoom, open to all ages and abilities!

Please do come as you are and use what you have, but if you want to prepare your equipment ahead of time, this is what we suggest you’ll need:

A4 paper
Small, medium, and large artist paint brushes
Set of acrylic or gouache paints
Plastic palette
Glass/jar for water
Coloured pencils/pens
HB pencil
(All widely available online and in stores such as The Works, Wilko, Home Bargains)
Here are the timings for the day:

12.00 Welcome and introductions

12.05 We’ll go live to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm where we’ll meet their alpacas, Bertie, Eric and Nelson, and get to know them before we have a go at recreating their likeness.

12.15 Art class led by artist Louise Atkinson, during which you can follow her guidance or freestyle as you wish. We’ll be working from a photograph of the alpaca, not the live animal.

12.45 Cameras on (if you wish) to share your finished pieces!

12.55 Close

All registered attendees will receive a zoom link a day before the event. We look forward to seeing you there!
