Bramley Baths first opened its doors in 1904 and is the last remaining fully functional Edwardian Bath House in Leeds. Threatened with closure in 2011, Bramley Baths was saved by its community and operates today as a Community Benefit Society, meaning, any profits they make go back into providing services for their community and preserving this heritage asset
They are a centre for health and wellbeing for all, offering swim, gym and fitness classes.
Their swim school provides swimming lessons for over 1500 children per week and they also host training courses for new lifeguards and swim teachers.
Their priorities centre on providing accessible, affordable, equitable and excellent services for the whole community of Bramley, Leeds. Within the Bramley area, there are 3 postcodes that sit within the top 10% index of multiple deprivation.
Things have been going well for the Baths, however, they are out of capacity in terms of raising a substantial amount of capital through simply delivering their services.
LET’S RAISE THE ROOF!!
Full repair of the roof throughout the building is needed as they are already seeing the impact as water ingress in certain areas and if this continues they risk further damage, to the heritage features of this wonderful building.
The full cost of this initial piece of work is £360,770. They plan is to raise £350,000 of this figure through their first community share offer. To support this work, as a member of their Board of Trustees, we are looking for investors who are passionate about community led organisations and want to support their ambitions to thrive and grow, both within their community and act as an exemplar to other likeminded organisations nationwide. In doing so, you would also help solidify their financial position both now and in the future.
Money raised now, will eventually be paid back to investors, and you would choose the amount of interest received, after 1 year. This could be 0%, 2%, 4% or 5%
