St Peter’s Singers

Described by one critic as ‘a jewel in the crown of Leeds’ cultural scene’, St Peter’s Singers is a versatile and enterprising classical chamber choir, based at Leeds Minster.
Under the direction of Alexander Woodrow, the group performs a wide range of mostly sacred choral music from the 15th century through to the present day and can scale up from intimate chamber music sung a cappella to some of the great oratorios performed with orchestral accompaniment.
Among its credits, the choir has recorded a CD of spiritual music in the Victoria Quarter, and given the first two performances of a major new Requiem created by two of its own members, poet Hannah Stone and composer Matthew Oglesby, for the centenary celebrations of the 1918 Armistice.
2027 sees the choir’s 50th anniversary which will be celebrated with two further commissions, and a performance of Bach’s St John Passion, given in collaboration with Period Instrument orchestra the 18th Century Sinfonia.
